Abstract: | "The Warburg Institute, founded in the 1920s in Hamburg by art and cultural historian Aby Warburg, is a pioneering institution that has greatly shaped the fields of art, myth, religion, medicine, philosophy, and intellectual history. When, in 1933, the institute was moved to London to escape the Nazis, its research and legacy was protected and further developed by a network of researchers dispersed throughout the UK, the US, and Canada."-- "The first interdisciplinary study of the Warburg network as an arena of intellectual transmission, transformation, and exchange, this volume reveals the dynamics, agencies, and actors at play in the development of the Warburg Institute's program and output, with a specific focus on the role of Raymond Klibansky (1905 2005) in the institute's major ventures. Among these collective projects of the institute are the famous Saturn and Melancholy, which blends art history with philosophical and cultural history, and the Latin and Arabic Corpus Platonicum Medii Aevi series, which contributed to research on the continuity of Platonic thought. Consulting published and unpublished sources including correspondences, memories, and diaries of affiliated scholars, the essays explore the history of the Warburg Library as a vital cultural institution and the personal and intellectual relationships of the researchers devoted to it. From Hamburg to London to Montreal, Raymond Klibansky and the Warburg Library Network takes readers on a journey into more than forty years of intellectual life at one of the most prestigious cultural research institutes."-- |

From Hamburg to London to Montreal, Raymond Klibansky and the Warburg Library Network takes readers on a journey into more than forty years of intellectual life at one of the most prestigious cultural research institutes."-- Saxl, Fritz 1890-1948 (DE-588)118804898 gnd rswk-swf Klibansky, Raymond 1905-2005 (DE-588)118777378 gnd rswk-swf Panofsky, Erwin 1892-1968 (DE-588)118591568 gnd rswk-swf Bing, Gertrud 1892-1964 (DE-588)116183853 gnd rswk-swf Cassirer, Ernst 1874-1945 (DE-588)118519522 gnd rswk-swf Wind, Edgar 1900-1971 (DE-588)119374552 gnd rswk-swf Kulturwissenschaftliche Bibliothek Warburg (DE-588)37542-1 gnd rswk-swf Warburg Institute Library (DE-588)1600275-1 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1925-1965 gnd rswk-swf Wissenschaftler (DE-588)4066567-7 gnd rswk-swf Forschung (DE-588)4017894-8 gnd rswk-swf Klibansky, Raymond / 1905-2005 / Friends and associates Klibansky, Raymond / 1905-2005 / Influence Warburg Institute / Library / History Warburg Institute / History Klibansky, Raymond / 1905-2005 Warburg Institute Warburg Institute / Library Humanities / Research Friendship Influence (Literary, artistic, etc.) History (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift 18.06.2015-19.06.2015 London gnd-content Klibansky, Raymond 1905-2005 (DE-588)118777378 p DE-604 Kulturwissenschaftliche Bibliothek Warburg (DE-588)37542-1 b Warburg Institute Library (DE-588)1600275-1 b Wissenschaftler (DE-588)4066567-7 s Forschung (DE-588)4017894-8 s Geschichte 1925-1965 z Saxl, Fritz 1890-1948 (DE-588)118804898 p Bing, Gertrud 1892-1964 (DE-588)116183853 p Cassirer, Ernst 1874-1945 (DE-588)118519522 p Panofsky, Erwin 1892-1968 (DE-588)118591568 p Wind, Edgar 1900-1971 (DE-588)119374552 p Despoix, Philippe 1957- (DE-588)112018920 edt Tomm, Jillian (DE-588)1176667955 edt Méchoulan, Éric 1959- (DE-588)1042783454 ctb Leroux, Georges 1945- (DE-588)123062985 ctb Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, PDF 978-0-7735-5606-5 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, EPUB 978-0-7735-5607-2 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment https://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:443/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=030790015&sequence=000002&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
