Abstract:Since its inaugural edition in 2002, the Arts Florissants's Academy for young artists, called "le Jardin des Voix", has become one of the premiere French professional vocal ensembles. Over the course its existance, its leader William Christie has been able to train "a new generation of singers who became performers and passionate defenders of the baroque repertoire". Among them are stars like Sonya Yoncheva, Christophe Dumaux, Emmanuelle de Negri, and Amel Brahim-Djellou. The 7th edition of the Académie du Jardin des Voix highlights Italian baroque music from the late 17th and early 18th centuries: Stradella, Vivaldi, and Cimarosa ... A program perfectly fitting the voices of this year's class: Lucía Martín-Cartón, Léa Desandre, Carlo Vistoli, Nicholas Scott, Renato Dolcini, and John-Taylor Ward. In weaving arias together by ingeniously imagining stories based on the original operatic scenes, Sophie Daneman and Paul Agnew create put these operatic and comic jewels in their best light
