Alexandra Grund untersucht Ursprung und Bedeutung des israelitisch-jüdischen Sabbats vom vorexilischem Ruhetag bis hin zur priesterlichen Sabbattheologie, die im Erzählbogen von der Weltschöpfung bis zur Sinaioffenbarung entfaltet wird. Am Beispiel der Genese des Sabbats arbeitet sie zugleich Charakteristika von Israels Zeitverständnis und Erinnerungskultur heraus. In this study, Alexandra Grund studies the origins and the significance of the Shabbat. In doing so, she begins by pursuing it back to its possible origins in the Mesopotamian day of the full moon, šab/pattu, and shows the fundamentals of the defining priestly Shabbat theology. Kaum ein Erbe des alten Israel ist bis heute von so selbstverständlicher, die Zeit und das gesellschaftliche Leben strukturierender Bedeutung wie der wöchentliche Ruhetag, der nicht zuletzt auf den jüdischen Sabbat zurückgeht. Alexandra Grund untersucht in der vorliegenden Studie Ursprung und Bedeutung des Sabbats. Dabei geht sie zunächst seiner etwaigen Herkunft aus dem mesopotamischen Vollmondtag šab/pattu nach, untersucht die Sabbatkonzeption beider Versionen des Dekalogs und zeigt die Grundlinien der prägenden priesterlichen Sabbattheologie auf, die im Erzählbogen von der Schöpfung bis zur Sinaioffenbarung entfaltet wird. Zugleich arbeitet sie anhand der Genese des Sabbats Charakteristika von Israels Zeitverständnis im Kontext seiner Umweltkulturen und die Bedeutung dieses Ruhetages für die Erinnerungskultur des Volkes Israel heraus. There is scarcely a legacy of ancient Israel which has so much significance today in the way it still structures time and social life as the weekly day of rest, which can be traced back to the Jewish Shabbat. In this study, Alexandra Grund studies the origins and the significance of the Shabbat. In doing so, she begins by pursuing it back to its possible origins in the Mesopotamian day of the full moon, šab/pattu, and shows the fundamentals of the defining priestly Shabbat theology that is unfolded in a story arc which ranges from the Creation to the revelation at Sinai. Using the genesis of the Shabbat, she also identifies the characteristics of Israels concept of time and the significance of the day of rest for the culture of remembrance of Israels people. |
