In thematisch wie methodisch unterschiedlichen Beiträgen wird Platons philosophisches Zeit-Konzept diskutiert und dessen Rezeption bis in die Spätantike untersucht. Dieser Band bietet Schlaglichter der aktuellen und internationalen Platon-Forschung zu einem zeitlosen Thema der Philosophie.
This volume focuses on a major theme running through Platos writings: the nature and essence of time. Above all in Timaeus but also in other philosophical dialogues, Plato explores this theme and ponders how and whether time came into being. The contributions gathered here take a variety of philosophical and cosmological approaches, covering both ontological and ethical issues. Different stages of the philosophical reception and (critical) examination of Platos conception of time are likewise discussed, with authors such as Philon of Alexandria, Plutarch, Numenius, Origen, Plotinus, Augustine, to the late qntique Neoplatonist Proclus encountered along the way.
Der Band Platon und die Zeit umfasst Beiträge zu einem zentralen und großen Thema bei Platon: Vor allem im Dialog Timaios, aber auch in weiteren philosophischen Dialogen Platons geht es um die Frage der Natur und des Wesens von Zeit und darum, wie und ob sie entstanden ist. So werden in diesem Band ganz unterschiedliche philosophische und kosmologische Ansätze ebenso wie ontologische und ethische Themen zu Platons Zeit-Konzept in den Fokus genommen. Behandelt werden überdies viele Stufen der philosophischen Rezeption und der (kritischen) Auseinandersetzung mit Platons Vorstellungen über Zeit, die etwa über Philon von Alexandria, Plutarch, Numenios, Origenes, Plotin und Augustinus bis hin zu späteren Neuplatonikern wie Proklos in die Spätantike reichen.
